Battle Royale From Kinji Fukasaku
Quote :
In the beginning of the 21st Century, the economy of Japan is near a total collapse, with high rates of unemployment and students boycotting their classes. The government approves the Battle Royale Act, where one class is randomly selected and the students are sent to an island wearing necklaces with few supplies and one weapon. After three days, they have to kill each other and the survivor wins his or her own life as a prize. The 42 students of a ninth-grade class are selected to participate in the survival game and abducted while traveling in their bus. Under the command of their former teacher Kitano, they have to eliminate each other following the rules of the sadistic game where only one wins
Very good movie I wanted to see this one for a long time. Daring, violent and very entertaining. I expected maybe a bit better as I think it is missing a little something to make it totally as brilliant as so many people say, I would have liked it a bit more deap or something. But it is a must see anyway and I enjoyed it a lot

Just finished watching this movie. An 8 with 40k votes is overrating guess the Japanese flooded it with 10's. i would gladly give a 7 for this movie and as chrisy said i too felt a lack of depth in characters. If the movie had been made with another 20mins building up the Battle and developing the characters a bit more it could have easily been a classic, but still one of the best entertainers i saw recently!
