The desert planet Arrakis - we enter the year 10191 and the whole universe depends on the spice Melange which exists only on this dry and desolate planet. The natives of this planet await the arrival of their Messiah who will lead them into a holy war against the evil Harkonnen empire. This is the film adaptation based on Frank Herbert's cult novel.
Saw it again yesterday. I saw it many times when I was a child, my brothers were totally fan of this movie (they even had one of those primitive video game ) Me, I dont think I understood it very good at this age but I have strong memories of some things like the sand monster and the horrible Barron and the music of course So I discover it with new eyes and I love it It's unic, full of imagination, I love the thoughts, the music is also very good and create that very particular atmosphere. It is defenetly made David Lynch way
David Lynch says he actually doesn't like this movie, not sure why I haven't read the book but from what I have read about it, it is a very difficult book to adapt in the cinema. Well I think Lynch did it great. Really really nice movie

"It is by will alone I set my mind in motion, it is by the juice of Saphoo that thoughts acquire speed, the lips acquire stains, the stains become a warning. It is by will alone I set my mind in motion."
Where should I start? I saw it like 40 times I think, though I haven't seen it in a few years now. Still know half of the dialogue by heart
It's better than Star Wars. It's better than Battlestar Galactica. It's better than...well...I actually think it's one of the, if not THE, best scifi movie made around that time...maybe in all time
I read the book, the whole original series even (not the new books by Frank Herbert's son). The book is indeed a difficult book to adapt and Lynch hasn't succeeded. It's not Lynch's way to adapt a book to screen in a way that's completely true to the original. He has instead made the "Duniverse" his own and created a movie inside of it that even today is overwhelming and intoxicating.
This film deserves a 10/10 in my book. I'm seriously wondering why I didn't think of putting up a review
