Wouhaaa so much to say about this movie that I really dont know where to start

The particularity of this musical is that all the songs are from the Beatles. Now to start with I'm not a big fan of the Beatles and I'm not the biggest fan of musicals either. But it doesn't really matter, cause I loveeeed it, it's amazing

Dont be fouled by the first part of the movie, yes it is an easy, happy and sweet movie (sometimes maybe a bit too sweet) but you're up to something, trust me
About half way through in the movie, something happens, everything changes and what a change: FIREWORKS!!!! You're entering almost a fantasy world, it's absolutelly beautifull and blow minding

So let me detail a bit (Zeehond style )

Originality: The plot is not the most original, that's the down side of the movie: hippies, vietnam war, revolution and music. However, these little touches of fantasy here and there make it up. It's very imaginative . I loved it

Light/colors/visual effects: stunning!!!

Camera work: same here!!! (although it can always be better )

Acting: the actors dont only sing, they also have quite long talking parts. The acting is good, the emotions well showed

Soundtrack: like I said I'm not the biggest fan of the beatles but couldn't help singing along The interpretations are very good and each song fits perfectly in the story

Overal feeling: Happy Happy Joy Joy down the rabbit hole

It's more than that, it's really beautifull. Really didn't expect it to be that good. The fantasy parts are amazing

O, also Bono from U2 plays in it - I'm not a big fan of U2 either but he's amazing in it: he sings "I am The Walrus" one of the best scene of the movie

Across the Universe is a movie which was made by being purely inspired by the beatles.The whole movie is woven around the songs that are used in the movie.And actually being a Beatles fan i liked the movie even thou the songs can never come near the originals i liked the way this movie was filmed and the surrealism was fantastic along with the right songs. Evan Rachel Wood looks stunning and both the leads have done their job nicely and without struggling. This is meant to be a feel good light hearted movie and it has been one all along, but i don't think all the people who are not fans or familiar with the beatles may like it because this movie is full of Beatles and if you know and understand their work you might like the movie more.
