VideoInferno pays homage to visionary cult director Edwin Brienen.
Young Brienen (born in 1971) became notorious all over Holland as controversial radio dj for the VPRO radio.
In 2001 he produced his directorial debut: Terrorama!.
Brienen first film hit Holland as a bomb and maintained an authentic cult-status worldwide since (the film is still banned in the UK).
After some roundabouts, with one lengthy stay in New York, Brienen finally chose Berlin as base and began producing films fulltime.
Without any subsidies and often without any budget at all, Brienen managed to build a unique and uncompromising filmography while staying in Berlin.
With an impressive production - ten films in seven years! and regardless of any rule or convention, film after film Brienen continues his personal exploration of the darkest sides of the human psyche.
Nihilism, sex, terrorism, death and extreme violence are just a few of the ingredients of the border-crossing cinema of Edwin Brienen.

15.00 - Hysteria (2006)
A political horror that deals with topics such as mind manipulation and false reality. Dark and disturbing, Hysteria is Brienen at his most extreme and one of the most bizarre cinematic experiences of recent years.

17.00 - Last Performance (2006)
Set in the tumultuous New York theatre world, Last Performance is inspired by the New York avant-garde of the early eighties and by obsessive philosophers such as Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and LaVey.
Reality and fiction merge and become indistinguishable in this tale of sexual frustration, revenge and abuse.

19.00 - L'Amour Toujours (2007)
Heavily inspired by 9/11, conspiracy theories, Italo disco and bad TV shows, L'Amour Toujours is about anarchism and tyranny, cocktail parties and terrorism, new abstract realities and claustrophobic mazes. It is about Princess Stephanie of Monaco and Noam Chomsky. It is a film about nothing. L'amour Toujours is a carnival of lust, a vaudeville show of slapstick and sleaze.

Brienen's scandalous and outrageous debut film. A dark and grim tale
about a group of dispirited people who seek out 'psychological freedom'
by committing an act of terror.
Written, directed & edited by Brienen, Terrrorama is a legendary cult
film dealing with themes like terrorism, nihilism, radical politics &
extreme violence.
