A young boy, recently orphaned, is taken to England by his grandmother. At a hotel in which they are staying, a group of witches have gathered to prepare a plot to rid the world of all children.
ok, it is the first time I see it so maybe my appreciation would have been very different if I saw it as a child but well, didn't like it that much The only thing I liked was some of the camera work done on the witches. That is about it, didn't like much the story nor the all cheesiness. I cannot say it is bad but just not my cup of thee But maybe I would have liked it more as a child, possibly

I think so, yes, I saw it as a child and I still love it now, sure it's tacky at times, but that's part of the nostalgic charm, no?

i really like it, considering its a children movie, but i also saw it as a child too. only the end should have been as in the book...
Spoiler:
Roald Dahl hated the happy ending where Luke gets changed back into human form.

I liked the book better, because of the ending...
The movie is alright, but too fluffy...even for kids
This could well have been an introduction to horror-like movies for children if it hadn't been this fluffy...
