Okay. I can't find a movieposter, I can't find a trailer. I really can't find as much as I'd like to about this movie, but here's the IMDb link:
The Being @ IMDb...
To kick this review off: I really liked this movie
It's one of those "acquired taste" things I think, and with that, I mean that labrat and zeehond will probably find this movie to be kick ass, while most people will puke it out as something they'd rather not be associated with whatever the consequences
Pottsville, Idaho (yeah, they really named the fictional town Pottsville, Idaho!
) is a small town somewhere in Idaho (oh gee, I guess that's not a very big surprise...). Anyway, Pottsville Idaho is a small town with a nuclear waste dump on it's borders and people start disappearing. Detective Mortimer Lutz (or Mort) investigates the disappearances and finds out there is a beast on the loose.
Garson Jones (a terrific role by Martin Landau) is a government investigator who comes to Pottsville, Idaho (I really can't get enough of this name
) to reassure the people of Pottsville, Idaho (
) that their nuclear dump is perfectly safe. Somewhere along the line, he gets killed of course.
The whole plot is pretty straightforward, no weird twists here!
I learned several things from this film, the most notable being that people can survive in a hangar filled with cyanide! Or that every car in a junkyard has keys in it, I'm not sure which piece of information will be more useful in the long term.
The effects are plain horrible, there's a kind of Alien imitation featuring as "The Being", too bad it looks like a sack of shit with some ooze and a few teeth. The acting is actually quite alright (for this kind of movies at least
)
8/10 for style, 3.5/10 for quality, just the way I like it
