stacy - attack of the schoolgirl zombies!!! SCHOOLS OUT... FOREVER A Japanese horror-comedy, by Naoyuki Tomomatsu...
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0368296/With a title like that, I hear you think "this can't go wrong", but before you start running drooling to the videostore... it CAN go wrong!!!
the plot itself is hilarious! I will make an attempt...
in the beginning of the 21st century, mysteriously and without any apparent cause, schoolgirls age 15 to 17 start dying worldwide! Before they die, they have a period of extreme happiness, called N.D.H. or "near death happiness" Their skin also excretes some kind of glittering powder... called B.T.P, or "butterfly twinkle powder"! So after this period of blissfull extacy, they die! And they come back to life as flesheating zombies, for no apparent reason called "Stacy's"! in order to kill them, they have to be "rekilled", wich means... they have to be cut in 165 (!!!) pieces, and to do so, a special team is is called to life, "the Romero Repeat Kill Troops"! Only these troops, or parents/brothers are allowed by law to rekill the Stacy's!
there are some important subplots involving a schoolgirl and a puppetmaker, a mad professor, a team of deranged fiteenyear old girls as an illegal rekill squad... but explaining them would be too much of a spoiler!
now... the plot is truly wacky, but the acting is deliberatly in an extreme way over the top and that gets on my nerves pretty quick! The scoolgirl zombies are zombies as George A. Romero invented them... they walk like drunk morons, have virtually no intelligence and eat humans! the big difference is, here we have that kind of zombies, with great legs and a typical Japanese schoolgirluniform! But... zombies with great legs getting chopped up in 165 pieces, is NOT my kind of kinky!
So, that gets boring pretty fast too! But the most irritating thing about this movie, is without any doubt the UTTERLY MINDNUMBING and totally unfitting hiddeous muzak, that perpetually seems present at any time! the muSICK that is used, is best described as misplaced elevatormuzak and sounds like the toecurling music they use in some Belgian trainstations to keep the bums from sleeping there!
the movie is definately worth watching, and has some serious hilarious moments! but the downsiodes as described above, keep it from being real good!
6/10!
