VideoInferno pays homage to a colorful pantheon of political utopists, spiritual outlaws and artistic extremists with H3R3TIC!, an independent film festival dedicated to the groups and individuals that inspired and fuelled fifty years of countercultural insubordinations in cinema, art and thought.
Nine locations - OT301, UITKIJK, ILLUSEUM, SMART PROJECT SPACE, CAVIA, OCCII, VRANKRIJK, CHIELERIE, HOTEL DOLPHIN - tens of film screenings (among which several European and Dutch premieres), various after-parties, performances, debates and meetings with International guests to celebrate Amsterdam's proud distinctiveness and the last five decades of barrier-breaking political, cultural and artistic rebellion on film.
The movements and the protagonists that actively participated in the creation of fifty years of independent thinking, their sources of inspiration, their followers and their heritage.
An audiovisual tale of mutiny whose set of characters ranges from Guy Debord, Aleister Crowley, Timothy Leary, Isidore Isou, Chris Marker, John Sinclair, Alex Grey, Harry Smith, Robert Anton Wilson, Jacqueline De Jong, Menno Grootveld, Spiral tribe, Antero Alli and many more.

To celebrate forty years of the Paris student uprising in May 1968, special attention is going to be dedicated to the 1960's, a decade that has suffered much verbal abuse in recent years, with two retrospectives dedicated to Ira Cohen (Uitkijk, Saturday 31/05) and Charles Manson (Illuseum, Saturday 31/05).
Other special thematic programs and presentations will focus on the European premiere of the work of underground director Antero Alli (Illuseum, Sunday 01/06); on modern nomads and Temporary Autonomous Zones (SMART Project Space, Saturday 31/05 and Sunday 01/06); on freedom of expression and media piracy (OT301, Sunday 01/06); on Aleister Crowley's occult philosophy and contemporary heritage (Illuseum, Friday 30/05); on the backrooms of conspiracies and revolutions (Chiellerie, Friday 30/05 till Sunday 01/06), on the Situationist International and May 68 (OCCI, Thursday 29/05 and Sunday 01/06).
